For the 2026 “Celebrating the American Public Servant” Gala and National Awards Celebration, Pendulee assisted the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) in leading the exhibition’s environmental graphic design and spatial identity. This traveling exhibition debuted at the historic Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., during America’s semiquincentennial commemorations.

Centering on the theme of exemplary public service, our work focused on turning a prestigious, monumental venue into a cohesive, narrative-led journey. Because this is a mobile, traveling exhibit, the design system was engineered to look stunning at the Library of Congress while translating effortlessly to any university gallery or public space on its nationwide tour.

Process

As the exhibition design lead, our role was to provide a polished visual anchor for a national stage. To ensure the traveling exhibit successfully communicates NAPA’s mission across diverse venues, our environmental graphic design strategy focused on:

• Adaptive Exhibition Identity: We established a commanding, dignified visual language that commands attention in a space as grand as the Library of Congress. Yet it also scales beautifully for smaller university galleries. The design reflects the prestige of the American Public servant while remaining highly modular.
• Atmospheric Wayfinding Graphic Design: We utilized clean, authoritative graphic design to activate the architecture, guiding dignitaries, civic partners, and students through distinct narrative zones. Moreover, our modular wayfinding ensured that the visitor flow feels structured, intuitive, and intentional in any footprint.
• Narrative Labeling Systems: We developed a custom graphic system for the educational and award-focused displays that provided essential historical and systemic context. These educational panels act as the connective tissue. They unify complex civic storytelling under a single, polished, and deeply engaging identity.
